Unlock PDF Online — Remove Password Protection

Need to open a password-protected PDF but don't know the password? Unlocking a PDF removes password restrictions, allowing you to view, edit, copy, or print the document. This is useful when you've forgotten the password to your own file or have received a protected document you need to access.

PDF passwords come in two forms: user passwords (required to open the file) and owner passwords (restrict editing, printing, copying). Removing user passwords requires the original password or specialized tools. Owner password restrictions can often be bypassed more easily.

Legal note: Only unlock PDFs you own or have permission to access. Removing passwords from protected documents you don't own may violate copyright or privacy laws.

FAQ

Can I unlock any PDF?

You can only unlock PDFs you own or have permission to access. Attempting to bypass passwords on protected documents you don't own is illegal in many jurisdictions.

What if I don't know the password?

User passwords cannot be removed without knowing them. You may need to contact the original sender or document owner for access.

Does unlocking keep my file secure?

No — unlocked PDFs have no password protection. Be careful where you store or share them, especially if they contain sensitive information.
